A FUNNY THING…. tickets on sale!

Come to the ultimate toga party! The Players present this riotous mix of comedy and song on the Town Hall Theater stage April 28th – May 7th.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is Stephen Sondheim’s breakthrough musical based on the farces of Plautus, the Neil Simon of 250 B.C. Forum is maybe the funniest musical ever written, and it’s coming to Middlebury!

Take a scheming slave, two innocent virgins – male and female, a lech, his harridan wife, a senile old coot, a madam, a vainglorious military bully, and a neurotic flunky continually on the verge of nervous collapse. Mix them with an assortment of courtesans, slaves, and flunkies and add a plot filled with secret plots, mysterious potions, mistaken identities, and cunning subterfuges, and what do you end up with? A terrific musical based on one of the oldest stories in the world. Literally.
