Auditions for THE FANTASTICKS

The Players will hold auditions for our fall musical, The Fantasticks, on Monday, August 29, and Wednesday, August 31, 2016. If callbacks are necessary, they will be held on Thursday, September 1. All auditions will start at 7:00pm at the Town Hall Theater, 68 S. Pleasant Street, Middlebury 05753. See previous post HERE for a description of the show.

Please come prepared to sing and move. There are 8 roles open:

El Gallo, 30-60. The mysterious, romantic orchestrator of the staged abduction of Luisa. Must be strong actor with a legitimate baritone required.

Matt, 18-30. A dreamy, romantic young man with a strong tenor voice.

Luisa, 16-30. A hopelessly romantic young woman. Must have a strong soprano voice.

Hucklebee, 40+. Matt’s father (or mother). A character role, mainly comedic. Must be able to carry a tune well and do a song-and-dance number. Although written as a male role, it may be cast as female.

Bellomy, 40+. Luisa’s father (or mother). A character role, mainly comedic. Must be able to carry a tune well and do a song-and-dance number. Although written as a male role, it may be cast as female.

The Actor, an elderly and decrepit Shakespearean actor. Minimal singing. A broadly comedic role with a touch of pathos.

The Indian, any age. Minimal singing. The comic sidekick to the actor. His specialty is dying melodramatically.

The Mute, any age. Must be able to express himself through his body. Non-singing role, obviously.

Rehearsals will begin in early September and will take place on Monday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday afternoons. Additional rehearsal time will probably be needed as opening night nears. The show will run for five performances from November 3 to 6 at Town Hall Theater.

Todd Gordon is producing, Kevin Commins directing, and Michael McCord is the music director. The libretto is available for perusal at the Town Hall Theater box office (Monday-Saturday, noon to 5:00pm, 802-382-9222).
