Johann Strauss’ “DIE FLEDERMAUS” at THT

Opening this Thursday night is Strauss’ famous operetta DIE FLEDERMAUS (The Bat), produced by the “German for Singers” Program at the Middlebury College Language Schools. Shows are at 8:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday, August 8 and 9, 2013, at the Town Hall Theater in Middlebury.

The operetta will be sung in German, but Bettina Mattias (recent director of THE THREEPENNY OPERA for the Players) will do an introductory talk in English at 7:30 p.m. prior to the show for anyone who wishes to follow more closely. The production is directed by Bettina Matthias with Stephan Boving.  The musical director is Stefan Rutter. With marvelous singers, this show is a mischievous delight, a tale of revenge and mistaken identity with inspired silliness and a luscious score. Don’t miss this summer musical theater opportunity!
