MCP and THT Team Up for Education Programs

We are pleased to announce that several partial and full scholarship opportunities are available for students interested in the performing arts to take part in the upcoming roster of classes at the Town Hall Theater. The scholarship fund has been provided by the Middlebury Community Players. “MCP has always been dedicated to providing a chance for people to become involved, at all levels and no matter what their past experience is.  Education is such an essential piece of the continued success of both MCP and all local theater,” says Players’ President Dora Greven. She added: “The introduction of the new MCP scholarship fund is the perfect opportunity to partner with the THT Education Programs and will allow us to continue our mission of supporting and promoting theater in our community.”

According to Education Director, Lindsay Pontius, “We are so excited about the chance to reach out to the entire community through the MCP fund. The range of students who can access the funds extends from Kindergartners through adults of any age.”  This Fall, THT is offering: THT Kids, theater and singing for grades K-2; Improviso, an improvisation and play creation class for grades 4-6; and Show Choir performance project for grades 7-12. “All of these classes weave into a final production on the THT stage with costumes and music entitled,‘The Masked Ball’ on November 22 and 23, 2013. But we will also be offering a class that leads to performance for adults as well,” said Pontius. Melissa Lourie and Lindsay Pontius will be teaching a workshop for adults in comic style that will culminate in a performance on Sunday, November 24 at 7pm.
