Play Reading This Sunday, 3/11

The Vermont Shakespeare Festival will present a reading of WITTENBERG, by David Davalos, an invigorating invention that mixes up Shakespeare’s Prince of Denmark, Christopher Marlowe’s Dr. Faustus, and the real-life Martin Luther in a fateful week at the German university of the title. How these three men’s sagas overlap and intertwine and how they end up irrevocably affecting the course of each other’s lives is the substance of WITTENBERG, a comedy that reveals the story behind their stories. The reading is part of the Festival’s commitment to interpreting and exploring plays inspired by Shakespeare or his times.

“…a crackling good bit of entertainment…bursts with a Stoppardian eagerness to tickle as it tangles with weightier issues… Hilarity, thy name is WITTENBERG.”
