Likely, you have heard someone’s cell phone go off to the tune of “Mack the Knife,” and you have gone about your day humming the tune in your head. But did you know that it is the opening number for the most successful and famous German musicals of all times, Brecht’s and Weill’s The Threepenny Opera—and that it is only one of many gripping tunes in it? Or that the play itself is amazingly funny, satirical and great to perform? This spring, you can be part of a full production of this play: Middlebury Community Players are currently holding auditions for their April 25th-28th performances at Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater, and we invite everyone to come and try out. There are at least 14 roles still to be cast, big and small, with or without singing, for experienced actors and novice amateurs, and whether you are 17 or 70, there is a place for you. Come join the cast of Brecht’s and Weill’s blockbuster musical and bring Mack the Knife to life in Middlebury!
