Announcing FEBRUARY auditions for ALMOST, MAINE

The Middlebury Community Players will stage the romantic comedy Almost, Maine by John Cariani at the Town Hall Theater in Middlebury in May 2014.  Almost, Maine is a series of two-character playlets that create a mosaic image of a small, remote, definitely quirky town in Maine. Almost, Maine is a town that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States—it’s almost in Canada. And it almost doesn’t exist, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it’s just…Almost. Each scene centers around the search for love. Some are wildly comic, some poignant, some joyous, some bittersweet. Actors will need to combine comedy technique with sincerity and underplayed emotion. Since this is New England, passions are usually kept below the surface, but that doesn’t make them any less real or powerful.

The roles are for up to 19 men and women from age 20 through seniors. Please come to auditions prepared to read from the script. Perusal scripts available at the Town Hall Theater Box Office (382-9222, Monday – Saturday, noon to 5pm).

Auditions will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, February 25 and 26, at 7:00 p.m., at the Town Hall Theater in Middlebury (68 South Pleasant Street 05753).

Kevin Commins, actor and screenwriter, will direct Almost, Maine. Mary Longey is producer, with Piper Patterson as stage manager and Emily Stone as assistant stage manager. Rehearsals will begin in March 1. Almost, Maine will be presented May 1-4, 2014, at Town Hall Theater.
