MCP Announces “No Membership Drive”

To our MCP Friends:

Normally each Spring, a letter from us appears in your mailbox asking for your support as a Member, telling you about our upcoming spring show, and inviting you to our annual meeting over the summer. But “normal” has flown out the window (with the toilet paper…), and we, like you and so many of our neighbors, have shifted our priorities somewhat.

We recognize the difficulties so many individuals and businesses are facing during this sad and challenging time. MCP made donations recently to HOPE and the United Way, in lieu of spending money on a membership mailing. This year, instead of asking you to become a member, we’re inviting you to join us by making a contribution to ANY local charity that is helping our community at this difficult time.

We’d also like to inform you of some upcoming schedule changes:

1. We postponed our spring production of Tuck Everlasting (we think this is a first in sixty years of shows!), and we plan to present it in April/May 2021. We are humbled by the loyalty and continued excitement of our cast for the rescheduled show, and we hope that most will still be part of the company. (On the bright side, they have more time to learn lines!)

2. Next, for safety’s sake, we cancelled our June 2020 Annual Meeting and Picnic at Branbury State Park. However, we look forward to gathering with you all when it is safe to do so again for fun, songs, games, and good times.

3. Finally, due to the uncertainty of planning that we are all experiencing, we have decided not to undertake a November 2020 production.

Thank you all for your support and friendship during our 60 years of existence so we could keep community theater alive in Addison County! Please stay safe so we can all look forward to coming together again soon, to start the next 60 years to come.
