‘Much Ado’ is one of the Bard’s funniest comedies, partly due to the antic buffoonery of Constable Dogberry (played by Tom McElhany) and his sidekick, Verges (Niko’a Salas), but mainly because of the verbal jousting of the would-be lovers, Beatrice (played by Tirzha Osmun) and Benedick (Christopher Ross), rapier wit that put the phrase “Battle of the Sexes” into the English lexicon. Directed by Kevin Commins.

This year’s comedy has had its own drama backstage. Four weeks before opening night, leading lady Tirzha had a bad automobile accident, breaking her ankle among other injuries. What to do!?! The troupe rallied, a wheelchair was produced, dances re-imagined, everybody will have to modify their stage action to accommodate the new situation. How will they manage that? Come to Shakespeare on the Green and find out!
