Auditions for Good People, by David Lindsay-Abaire
Director: Kristen Ginsburg

Monday, November 21, 6:30-8:30pm
Tuesday, November 22, 6:30-8:30pm
at Town Hall Theater, 68 South Pleasant Street, Middlebury, VT

Welcome to Southie, a Boston neighborhood where a night on the town means a few rounds of bingo, where this month’s paycheck covers last month’s bills, and where Margie Walsh has just been let go from yet another job. Facing eviction and scrambling to catch a break, Margie thinks an old fling who’s made it out of Southie might be her ticket to a fresh new start. But is this apparently self-made man secure enough to face his humble beginnings? Margie is about to risk what little she has left to find out. An insightful comedy of class and culture, Good People was a Broadway hit (Francis McDormand won a Tony for Best Lead Actress in 2011), darkly funny and surprisingly touching.

With his signature humorous glow, Lindsay-Abaire explores the struggles, shifting loyalties and unshakeable hopes that come with having next to nothing in America. There have been many glowing reviews of this play, but this one says it best: “Wonderful…this isn’t a manipulative tear-jerker or a simplistic diatribe. Good People is poignant, brave and almost subversive in its focus on what it really means to be down on your luck.” — NY Post

Auditions will consist of cold readings of brief scenes from the script. There are roles for six actors, four females (one African-American) and two males. If interested but unable to make audition dates, an alternate date can be arranged. Perusal script is available at the Town Hall Theater Box Office. Performance Dates: Thursday-Sunday, February 9-12, 2017, at Town Hall Theater in Middlebury.
