About MCP
The Middlebury Community Players present musicals, comedies, and dramas in and around Middlebury, Vermont, USA. Founded in 1959, the Players are an enthusiastic group of actors, directors, technicians, and production personnel from Addison County and beyond. The purpose of this organization is to further the interest of theater in Addison County, Vermont.
Each year we present two to four plays. We encourage the theater arts by holding workshops and training sessions. We offer two $1,000 scholarships to students who have graduated from high school within the last two years and who plan to attend college. In order to be eligible for either of these scholarships, students must have worked with MCP in some regard over the course of high school, either participating in a production, or assisting at an MCP-sponsored event, such as our costume sale. We also provide partial or full scholarships to adults and children who attend theater-related classes at the Town Hall Theater. We would be delighted to have you join us as an active participant, audience member or financial supporter. In addition, we welcome your participation on one of our Board committees: Production Planning, Facilities, Finance, Membership and Communications.
Company Be is a branch of the Middlebury Community Players dedicated to producing small, intimate, “black box theater” plays. We encourage anyone with a play they’d like to direct or produce to get in touch with us at info@middleburycommunityplayers.org.

Dora Greven, President
Dora has been involved with theater since her very early years. It has always been one of her favorite ways to express her creativity and has allowed her to develop confidence and friends. She started her love affair with MCP in 1998, and her resume now includes over 120 shows with MCP and other companies in Addison County, encompassing every role imaginable—onstage and off. She has been the Board president for more years than she can remember and is thrilled that MCP has given her the opportunity to make such a wonderful theater “family.” She is always excited to welcome new people to the group just as she was welcomed way back when. Not only does MCP provide the community with much needed entertainment—we also provide a supportive place where anyone can get involved. And we hope that’s exactly what you’ll all do!
Sarah Stone, Vice-President
I've been working with Middlebury Community Players for more than 25 years as an actor, director, and—most recently—a Board Member. I hold a BA in Theater Education and love being able to share with the local community my love of the arts through my involvement with MCP. The friendships and colleagues I've collected over these many years through this organization are priceless to me. Oh, and to get the opportunity to play a b#&%h onstage once in a while is also a pretty valuable opportunity.
Tom Noble, Treasurer
Tom first performed with MCP in 2007, joined the Board in 2008 and has since been involved with various community and professional theater organizations. A set builder, actor, and stage manager, Tom sees theater from many angles and believes firmly in its power to engage, enlighten, challenge, amuse, and generally make life better. Community theater is of, by, and for everyone, and is always looking for and welcoming newcomers to fill the many on- and off-stage roles needed to make a show. MCP is a great place to start! If you do not know how you might “fit,” ask us—we will help find your place in theater.
Maria Lourdes Stockman, Secretary
In a previous life, Maria was a ballet/modern dancer, corporate actor—drawing sizeable crowds in government facilities throughout the land—and nightclub karaoke diva. It’s a wonder she didn’t hit it big on Broadway. Her love of theater was re-sparked after moving to Vermont in 2013 and attending staged events at THT. Now she tries to live her best creative life learning how to make theatrical magic, behind the scenes. Community, drama, music and mountains? Yes, please!
Asa Baker-Rouse
Asa Baker-Rouse is an actor, singer, and dancer based in Middlebury, Vermont. Asa has worked on what seems to be a thousand MCP productions since the age of 8, both on and, recently, offstage. Asa is very excited (not drunk with power) to help community theater thrive and grow in Middlebury and hopes you come out to see a production!
Kevin Commins
I did my first play for MCP in 1972 when I was in high school, and it changed my life. By giving me the opportunity to become somebody else, it temporarily freed me from the angst and awkwardness of my adolescent self. Community theater showed me how to effectively use my voice and body to present my best self—skills I’ve used throughout my entire life and career. I want to make sure that the our newest generation has the same opportunities I was given. MCP is a remarkably creative, warm, welcoming, and encouraging group, and I’m proud to take part in it.

Gary has been involved in community theater since 1996. He was represented his theater company in Ohio to their state organization for 15 years and served on their board. His goal is to keep community theater active and interesting to audiences and those who want to perform onstage and backstage. Community theater should reflect our community and its values to remain relevant—sometimes reflecting the good things and sometimes reflecting the challenges.

I am delighted to have been a part of the MCP theater family since 1991 and have enjoyed a variety of roles, including actor, choreographer, makeup artist, Board member, and general cheerleader. For me, being on the Board is a way to have a voice in keeping this vital organization as an active and supportive part of the community. As a music teacher and theater educator, I can see the personal growth, connection, and self-awareness that goes hand in hand with theater experiences of all varieties. Come and play!
Peter Kristoph
A 1976 graduate of Middlebury College, Peter has had a passion for theater since debuting as The Announcer in his Kindergarten play. After performing in countless plays throughout high school and college, community theater beckoned Peter. There, he embraced directing, producing, and serving on several boards of directors while commuting to his “day job” in NYC. Recently retired from NYC back to Middlebury, Peter is excited to bring his lifelong enthusiasm and experience to MCP.
Christopher Ross
Christopher Ross joined MCP in 2014, playing Bill Sykes in Oliver! Since then he's appeared in more than 20 productions at Town Hall Theater, Flynn Space, Middlebury College, and elsewhere—and worked behind the scenes on other shows. He made his directorial debut in 2017, with MCP's The Crucible. He last appeared on stage in 2022 in the Company Be production of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? If it were not for the Players' Board of Directors, none of this would have been possible, so he is pleased as punch to serve as a member.
