MCP Presents THE ROOMMATE Onstage at Bristol Holley Hall!

Middlebury Community Players’ Company Be, in collaboration with the Bristol Recreation Department, presents the hit Broadway play The Roommate, by Jen Silverman, December 11-13, 2025, in historic Holley Hall in downtown Bristol. This dark comedy explores the unexpected, life-changing friendship that develops when Sharon, who is recently divorced and lives in Iowa, invites Robyn, a total stranger relocating from New York City, to be her roommate. We quickly learn that Robyn, as seen by Sharon, is everything she wishes she could be, living in a land of “yes” and “why not,” when all Sharon has been taught is a world full of “no:” “Everyone always told me not to do things!” The Roommate, is both funny and deeply moving, as two very different middle-aged women navigate the complexities of identity, morality, and the dream of reinvention.

Kimberlee Moyer is directing veteran MCP actors Sarah Stone and Jillian Torres, while the production is being produced and stage managed by Dora Greven. The Roommate, starred Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone on Broadway in 2024. Critics have called the play “a warm and wonderful story that explores how a person's ideas about herself can be limiting but, under certain circumstances, can change in a short period of time and alter the trajectory of one's life,” as well as, “a dark comedy about what it takes to re-route your life—and what happens when the wheels come off!”
